Whether you are a welder, an accountant, a grandparent, a student, or an athlete, you

likely feel the physical stressors of your day-to-day activities, OR lack there of. Not to

mention with each added year you may notice changes.

Mobility. What exactly are we talking about? Well, our bodies are meant to move.

Mobility is your ability to move freely and purposefully through your day. It includes

flexibility, range of motion, balance, strength, and agility.

Mobility isn’t “one size fits all” either. What we do and how we do it can impact how

our joints and muscles move long term. Limited range of motion and tight muscles can

be just as problematic as hyper-mobile ones. Meaning a desk jockey can experience mobility challenges, and so can a ballet dancer.

Physical Therapy - addressing YOUR mobility goals

Maintaining and/or improving your bodies mobility can be beneficial in several ways

including: injury prevention, fall prevention, allowing for postural changes, completion of

activities of daily living, pain management, and enhanced performance.

Improving your mobility doesn’t have to involve hours at the gym or wading through the

thousands of suggestions on social media either. Maintaining and/or improving your

mobility can start with something as simple as incorporating a few small changes into your daily movement routine.

Everyone’s body and mobility needs are different. Your physiotherapist can assist you

by assessing your movement patterns and potential areas for improvement. They will work with you to determine which exercises are appropriate for your mobility needs and goals!
